Applying Systematic Theology Today

In the concluding pages of A Biblical Perspective on Capital Punishment, David shares the conviction that guides his theological writing:

“Systematic theology is my particular interest, but I am also very interested in how we apply our theology today. I look at what is going on in the world and ask how what we know from Scripture applies to it.”
— David Taylor, Why I Wrote This Book (p. 80)
“I want people to think about what they believe, why they believe it, and whether it is actually biblical. That includes people who already agree with me. It is not enough to agree with the conclusion if you cannot explain why it follows from Scripture. And if you disagree, I want you to consider the passages and the argument carefully.”
— David Taylor, Why I Wrote This Book (pp. 81–82)
“I want people to think biblically about a topic where so many arguments fail to deal with what Scripture actually says. Clarity over popularity.”
— David Taylor, Why I Wrote This Book (p. 82)
