Faith Without Christ Is Not Faith
I see a lot on Twitter or “X” about the election. This is not surprising, we are just a few weeks away from an important Presidential Election here in the United States. Now, I am not going to get into the fray in this post about who to vote for between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. In fact, I am not going to say that either of those two candidates deserve the votes of Christians. But while I was reading more about Kamala Harris I could not help but see post after post by a group who calls themselves, “Evangelicals For Harris.”
Now the name of the group itself caught my attention because I personally see how a Christian can endorse the platform of the Democrat Party. I have spoken many times about their proactive stance on abortion “rights” and their stance on promoting the LGBTQIA+ agenda. Both are sinful. But I wanted to see what they said about Kamala Harris specifically. They often have posts that portray her as a “good Christian woman” and parade her faith as an example as to why Christians should vote for her.
But what I find interesting is that Kamala Harris never talks about Christ. Never talks about sin. She never talks about her need for a Savior. And what I found even more interesting is when I read her “Faith Story” on the Evangelicals for Harris website, it is the same story. There is zero mention of Jesus Christ.
This is troubling because a “Faith Story” without Jesus Christ is not faith story at all for someone who claims to be a Christian.
Romans 10:9-10 make very clear that our faith must include Jesus Christ. He is the center of it all. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (1 Timothy 6:13-16). He is the one that must receive all glory, honor, and praise. We preach Christ (1 Corinthians 1:23).
Christians may be politicians. But they cannot downplay the name of Christ if they claim to be a Christian. They cannot leave Christ out of the picture. Their Gospel mandate of spreading that same Gospel doesn’t end just because they are in Washington and in the public eye. If anything, they should be more outspoken about Christ.
Christians, we need to be very careful about who we follow and what we believe. If we believe Christ, if we are His followers. We will always proclaim His name.
